Simple Romance

If the guests you are targeting are honeymoon couples or couples wanting a romantic retreat then it’s not only the bedroom that counts.

Simple Romance

The bathroom can also provide for a romantic interlude, especially if you take the time to add a few simple touches to “romanticise” an oftentimes clinical room. If your target market happens to fall outside the “romantic getaway” category, remember that you will still have guests celebrating an anniversary or special occasion and that they would appreciate these special touches even more if your property is clearly not “geared up” for romance!

Sensational Smells

Did you know that people recall smells with a 65% accuracy after a year, while the visual recall of photographs sinks to about 50% after only three months?

Think about it. I can conjure up the smell of clean sheets, biscuits baking in the oven, the smell of coffee brewing in my mom’s kitchen and the smell of my Grandma’s dining room with its “cake cupboard”.
Our odour memories frequently have strong emotional qualities and are associated with the good or bad experiences in which they occurred. Olfaction is handled by the same part of the brain (the limbic system) that handles memories and emotions.

Guest amenities

Guest Amenities or Hotel Toiletries are complimentary
items supplied by the hotel/ guest house for the guests’ convenience.

These items reflect the guest house/hotel’s personality and reflect the style of the establishment. Amenities consist of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, shower gel, talc, shower caps, vanity kits,
sewing kits, soap, tea, coffee, tissues etc, and just about any item that you would find in your bedroom or bathroom at home. Hotels work on a room cost per night, luxury rooms with higher room rates would have more products; budget rooms would have fewer products.

Little touches make for a big welcome

Being a woman, I appreciate the little things that add warmth to any experience.

Throughout the years I have visited many, many establishments,
both in South Africa and abroad, and it’s those special little touches that make some establishment more memorable than others.

Shower, shave and shampoo

When I opened my B&B some years ago, on a shoestring budget and with no real experience, the advice I got from some of my peers was very valuable indeed.

I did know that good service and special touches were what made a good B&B into a great B&B, but knowing how to offer the special touches without blowing my budget took a while to master.
Many new guest house owners don’t know where to find companies specialising in amenities. Amenities include items such as soaps, shampoo, shower gel, body lotion, disposable shower
caps and sewing kits.

Soft Branding with Hotel Amenities Suppliers

Upgrading or matching the image of your hotel using soft branding is a world trend and is fast becoming part of the South African guest amenity market. This is certainly not something new to Hotel Amenities Suppliers.

Way back in the early eighties, the Holiday Inn Group in Southern Africa used Revlon, (With Flex shampoo and Aqua marine foam bath) in a co-branding program in all their hotels. The principle concept in soft branding is to match an independent product to the image you perceive your hotel or group, or your client’s profile to be.
